§ 14-125. Operation of apparatus.

  • (a)

    Drivers of apparatus shall exercise the utmost care while driving to an emergency response and obey all traffic laws when returning from an emergency response or traveling to or from a drill session. They shall demonstrate competence in the operation of the apparatus to which they are assigned. They shall be thoroughly familiar with the territory of the town fire department and emergency medical services area, including the condition of routes and locations of all water supplies.

    (b)

    Drivers shall exercise the utmost care while proceeding to an emergency scene or medical care facility, and shall obey all traffic laws when returning from an emergency response, or traveling to or from a drill session. They shall demonstrate competence in the operation of the ambulance or other emergency vehicle, and shall be thoroughly familiar with the territory of the town fire department and emergency medical services area, including the condition of routes and the locations of all nearby health care facilities.
