§ 14-82. Use restrictions.

  • (a)

    Applicable law and rules. All outdoor furnaces shall be subject to the restrictions provided in this section. Outdoor furnaces must also comply with all applicable other county, state or federal guidelines or regulations.

    (b)

    Location. Outdoor furnaces are only allowed in the agricultural zoning districts and are prohibited in platted subdivisions. Installation of the outdoor furnace shall be at least 200 feet from any other residential building that is not located on the same parcel.

    (c)

    Prohibited fuel. The items listed in section 14-48(g) and the following materials are specifically prohibited from being burned in an outdoor furnace:

    (1)

    Rubbish or garbage, including, but not limited to, food wastes, food wraps, packaging, animal carcasses or bones, paint or painted materials, furniture, composite shingles, construction or demolition debris or other household or business wastes;

    (2)

    Waste oil or other oily wastes;

    (3)

    Asphalt and any products containing asphalt;

    (4)

    Treated or painted wood, including, but not limited to, plywood, composite wood products or other wood products that are painted, varnished or treated with preservatives or resins, including, but not limited to, railroad ties;

    (5)

    Any plastic material, including, but not limited to, nylon, PVC, ABS, polystyrene or urethane foam, and synthetic fabrics, plastic films and plastic containers;

    (6)

    Rubber, including tires and synthetic rubber-like products;

    (7)

    Newspaper, corrugated cardboard, container board, office paper and other materials that must be recycled in accordance with any and all applicable recycling ordinances, statutes, and regulations except as specifically altered.
